James Cameron's Avatar The Game

Platform: PC Game

Size 3.8GB

Publisher & Developer: Ubisoft

Genre: Action

Release Date: Dec 1, 2009 (more)

ESRB: TEEN

ESRB Descriptors: Mild Language, Violence, Animated Blood, Mild Suggestive Themes

Language: English, German, Dutch, Italian, French, Polish, Russian, Spanish

The videogame takes you deep into the heart of Pandora, an alien planet that is beyond imagination. You will encounter the Navi, Pandora’s indigenous people and discover other life forms the likes of which have never been seen in the world of video games before. When conflict erupts between the RDA Corporation, a space-faring consortium in search of valuable resources, and the Navi, you will find yourself thrust into a fight for the heart of a planet and the fate of a civilization.

At first the player is allowed to choose the appearance of the character from a set of pre-defined faces, although not the name. After the player has chosen a side, each side the player chooses offers different gameplay, weapon set, skill set, and environment.

As a Soldier, the player is equipped with firearms such as assault rifles, shotguns, grenade launchers. The soldier generally have to eliminate the enemies, which are fast and resilient and usually charging towards the player, from afar. Playing as an Avatar limits the player to only one Avatar-issued machine gun and various primitive weapons such as bows, crossbows and melee weapons. The Avatar player usually has to charge the enemies since ranged weapon are either weak (the machine gun), have slow rate of fire (bows and crossbows), or have limited ammunition; however, the human enemies are generally weak and the basic foot soldiers can die in one hit. The environment also reacts differently to the character: many plants will attack the soldier, while the Avatar can walk past said plants unharmed. A variety of vehicles or mounts are also available to each race.

If the player's health is reduced to 0, s/he can use a Recovery that instantly recovers to full health. Recoveries can be acquired by gathering cell samples left behind by killed creatures (including Humans or Na'vi) or plants, but only 5 Recoveries can be carried at any one time. Avatar players can collect Cell Samples more easily from many plants without having to "kill" them. If the player falls to his death, however, he cannot use Recoveries and have to reload from a check point which is automatically saved. The game offers no way to manually save when playing the game (it is only saved when player reach certain points, completed an objective, or quit the game). A special case involves a separate checkpoint when the user decides which race to side with, which cannot be overwritten.

As the player completes mission objectives or eliminates opposition, the character gains experience points and levels up. The leveling up process is quite linear, with no way to customize the character. Each level rewards the character with better version of the weapon, armor and skills she/he already has. The character can have only 1 armor, 4 skills and 4 weapons equipped into quick slot at any one time. The skills can be offensive (boost damage, summon air strikes / wild life), defensive (boost damage resistance, heal) or of general purpose (boost speed, invisibility).

Experience points is also converted to credits that is used in the Conquer minigame. It is a Risk-style strategy game in which the player captures territories from enemies. Credits is used to buy troops (which has 3 types: infantry, heavy ground unit and air unit), defenses or limited special attacks. Some territores captured reward player with passive enhancements such as damage boost, critical chance, armor, health to use in the main game, as long as they are in the player's possession. (Play Station 3 version)

Platform: PC

Size: 956 MB

Language: Russian, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Japanese, Korean

Genre: Action (Shooter) / 3D / 1st Person / 3rd Person

Test your computer's performance under the application Lost Planet 2. The second part of the famous futurological action, action which takes place twelve years after the events in the original game. As a result of human activity planet EDN III, where once reigned permafrost, has changed beyond recognition: the snow and ice have given way to lush tropical jungles and hot barren desert. And again on the expanse of the harsh peace broke out global war: this time people come together in a desperate struggle for supremacy on the planet not only with its native inhabitants - insect-like locusts, but also with each other.

Preview includes gameplay test and benchsmark mode with DirectX 11 to gamers were able to determine the optimal settings for your PC.The story takes place back on E.D.N. III 10 years after the events of the first game. The snow has melted to reveal jungles and more tropical areas that have taken the place of more frozen regions. The plot begins with Mercenaries fighting against Jungle Pirates. After destroying a mine, the Mercenaries continue on to evacuate the area, in which a Category-G Akrid appears and attacks them. After being rescued, they find out their evacuation point (Where the Category-G appeared) was a set-up and no pick up team awaited them. The last words imply possible DLC additions to the game, "There's nothing to be gained by wiping out snow pirates... unless you had some kind of grudge."The game then shifts to NEVEC's Black Ops, Task Force First Descent, who fight their way through a Carpetbagger city in an effort to capture a railway gun, a train mounted with a massive cannon. After failing to succeed, a "space Akrid" Appears and begins to attack the group. After it is killed and the members evacuated, it is revealed they are clones of Ivan Solotov, a character from Lost Planet: Extreme Condition.

The story once again shifts, this time to Waysiders, snow pirates living in the desert. They are returning from a raid on a carpetbagger city, apparently with heavy casualties and not much Thermal Energy. On the way back home, they are ambushed by a Category-G Akrid, dubbed "Red Eye." After loading the remaining Thermal Energy on helicopter like VSs, they make their escape, only to be shot down by sandraiders. After stealing a train from the sandraiders, the group is ambushed by Carpetbaggers on the railway gun. After seizing control of the gun, they are once again attacked by Red Eye, this time they are able to kill it though. As they continue towards their home, it starts snowing heavily, burying their home. The player 1 waysider notices a giant, glowing orb in the distance and declares "I'm so going to shoot the shit out of you!" and apparently fires at it.

The game shifts to two NEVEC people talking on a helicopter VS. The orb seen by the waysiders is declared "the Over G", and its increase in thermal energy use will trigger another ice age on E.D.N. III. NEVEC plans to kill it with the satellite known as NEOS. Once the thermal energy is harvested, they will abandon the planet. To prevent this genocide, most NEVEC ground troops defect. Two Ex-NEVEC characters are imprisoned by Carpetbaggers, but are freed by one who "Brought your friends here." More Ex-NEVEC troops rescue them and they make their way through the underground tunnels. They capture a NEVEC submarine and make their escape. Meeting up with all the other Ex-NEVEC troops, an invasion of a NEVEC base is planned. The base is captured and an experimental weapon created by NEVEC is destroyed. The group of player troops stowaway on a shuttle headed for the space station NEOS. The plan is to use its massive firepower to destroy the Over-G before it reaches its final form. The plot shifts quickly to the "Treasure Borrachos." A group of sand pirates. They battle NEVEC troops, eventually capturing a massive gun from NEVEC. They see the Over-G in the distance and decide to head there.

The plot shifts back to the Ex-NEVEC troops in the space shuttle. After capturing NEOS, they plan to control and aim the cannon on it using VSs, but the NEVEC Black Ops appears. The Ex-NEVEC commander assures his troops they can trust them. The Ex-NEVEC troops descend to the planet as a call is sent out to all snow pirates, asking for assistance in destroying the Over-G Akrid. After fighting to the core of the Over-G, the group tags their GPS units to it and NEOS is fired by the NEVEC Black Ops. The Over-G survives and begins to regenerate itself. Shooting frantically, the NEVEC Black Ops decide to sacrifice themselves by crashing NEOS into the Over-G. As NEOS gets closer, Akrid flock to the Over-G and the units outside the core begin to retreat. The Ex-NEVEC characters and the characters present for the final fight are rescued by the Mercenaries from the beginning of the game. After awaking in darkness, Thermal Energy appears to not work, but as the sun comes up a sea of thermal energy is seen and all the VSs activate. NEOS can be seen in the distance as a mountain, showing where the Over-G once was. The game ends as the Mercenaries and Ex-NEVEC troops fly off in a helicopter VS and a flying akrid follows them.
